Heart and Mind

How would you describe the difference between having something on your heart and having something on your mind?
I thought about that when I was out shopping with my mom today, and she told me what she thought, but I wanted to know what everyone else had to say about it. :)

Wow - that's a deep question. I think that having something on your mind is more of a studious thing - like thinking something over, planning or maybe worrying about something. Having something on your heart is more like something God put there - a calling to do something, or pray for someone...
Hope I made sense! I'll be interested in other answers too and I'd like to hear what your Mom thought too!

I think I agree with Mari. Having something on your mind is when you can't stop thinking about something. But having something on your heart is a deep burning passion that is inside you, that you can't stop thinking of, and that you feel such a deep connection to or for. It's something God puts inside of you.

I agree with what's been said too. Something on your heart is from God. But something we have on our minds can be praise worthy of God, or not praise worthy (ie-God given or not God given). We can think about something that is even innocent too much and let it occupy too many of our thoughts and it can cause us to lose focus and deviate from what God has placed on our hearts. Things on our minds can also directly effect what has been laid on our hearts in other ways though. They can either connect us with God and deepen the passion that he has placed in us, or they can be destructive and cause our hearts to harden. We need to be very careful what we harbor in our minds and hearts and guard them.

Good question bel :)
